What happened when I asked for help

A few months ago, I shared the story of Eva, the daughter of dear friends, who is courageously battling terminal brain cancer. Eva’s dream is to leave a lasting legacy by creating a ninja warrior-style playground in our community—a space where kids can play and laugh for years to come.

This week's Two-Minute Tip is inspired by the incredible response I received when I reached out to friends and local businesses for help with this effort. It’s personal, it’s heartfelt, and I hope it leaves you feeling encouraged.

P.S. Be sure to check out the auction and join in on the bidding fun! For those in Boise, there are some incredible local experiences waiting for you…

  • You may recall a story I shared with you a few months ago about some of our very close friends whose daughter is currently battling terminal brain cancer. And you may recall me sharing about Eva's dream to leave a legacy. She has this dream, this vision, to build a ninja warrior style playground in our community for kids to enjoy for years to come. And so with this vision, you better believe we are rallying behind her to make it happen.

Just recently we decided to organize an online auction called "Shop for a Cause." As people are shopping for holiday gifts, why not purchase great experiences and gifts that allow your funds to go to this great cause?

So I gathered some friends together and we started reaching out to local businesses, asking for donations, asking them to donate passes and gift cards and all sorts of things to this auction. And I have to tell you that I have been absolutely blown away by the responses, cold outreaches, asking for money and help and met with such warmth and generosity, like absolutely blown away.

And so now we are putting on this amazing auction with so many great things because of the way people have rallied together to make it all happen.

So today's Two-Minute Tip has two, two things for you to take away. The first is, I just want you to be encouraged by the kindness and the generosity out there. I know it has been such an encouragement to me. And so I just wanna share that.

And then the second thing is, you know, I so often just hunker down and do the work myself. I'm not quick to ask for help. And I'm guessing many of you can relate because I don't know how many client meetings I sit in where my clients are overwhelmed 'cause they're trying to do it all on their own. Had I not reached out for help on this, asked businesses to donate, asked friends to participate, it would not be anything like it is right now. And so if you feel like you are drowning right now, if you are overwhelmed in your work, I want to encourage you to stop trying to just do it all on your own and instead ask for help. Give people an opportunity to step in and help you out. Don't be too big to ask for that help.
